For the past few months my increasing resistance towards paying $100 a week for gasoline has been butting heads with the economic realities of supply and demand. I’ve noticed that my 12 mpg truck just isn’t as much fun to drive as it was at $2.89/gallon and, because of that, the places I go and the distances I travel are slowly being reigned in. I don’t like that.
So as of this afternoon, deep in the hold of a transport ship somewhere on the Pacific Ocean between Tokyo and Long Beach, there sits a 50mpg Toyota Prius with my name on it.
Environmental conservation has never felt so good. Unless, that is, you were one of the lucky few who bought one of these cars before they started selling like hotcakes (even at $2K to $5K over MSRP) and there were still $3000 federal tax credits available and California was still handing out HOV carpool lane stickers like condoms at a free clinic. Then it probably felt really good.

Last weekend I began moving stuff around again here on the Web site. I wasn’t too sure where everything was going to end up. I’d hoped to take most of the photos off of this site’s server, where I use WordPress, and move them to a different one running Coppermine or PixelPost. It should have taken a day or two, tops. That was the plan, but then Sunday morning I woke up with the stomach flu and my schedule got shot to hell.
I’m beginning to feel better but I’m not too interested in completing the move. I’m hoping that will change soon. In the meantime, why not visit Sharon Gilbert’s Web site? She’ll entertain ya.
